Dub and Bass Together Forever
You voted hard, and the results are in! Afro-Latin bass group World Hood is MTV Iggy’s Artist of the Week. Congratulations guys!
The smooth, bilingual bass and occasional dub co-minglings on their self-titled debut LP are the embodiment of chill. Estrella Sanchez tops off these widely varying tracks with haunting, dissonant vocals.
Little is known about World Hood, yet. However, plenty is known about the arts and community center Sol Collective in Sacramento, where Sanchez runs programs for local schools — and is probably the coolest educator alive.
They recently dropped a new video for the song “Superficial.” And not too long ago the formidable remixer Sonora got his hands on “Indigenous 808″ and somehow managed to make it sound even more relaxed. He synthed it up, slowed it down, and shot it through with electronic sun rays.
World Hood will grace MTV Iggy’s home page all week. Hear their album, and look out for more World Hood on MTV Iggy!
