CoverTheWorld: We Have A Winner!
Just a few weeks ago MTV Iggy and Chevy came together to celebrate Spark— the mini car that’s built and loved around the world— with a massive global music showcase that was powered by you. As guests of honor, you were invited to listen and vote for your favorite among seven iconic tunes, like A-Ha’s “Take On Me” and Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” at Covertheworld.com. And thanks to your votes, Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” was selected as a fan favorite to be remade by four groundbreaking artists from around the world.
Varying in genre, we introduced many of you to the incredible music of Gyptian, All Time Low, the Wonder Girls and Angus Stone. But while the pros rehearsed and worked on infusing their own sounds and flow into the classic song, we unveiled the ultimate challenge. We turned the cameras on you and gave you an opportunity to perform your own rendition of the song for the sweet chance of winning an all-new 2013 Chevy Spark. And your videos came rolling in… Thanks to all who participated, but it was ZAC ‘s video that captured our attention. As the video made popular by fans our our panel of judges, ZAC, better known as Zac Barnett of Brooklyn, New York, whose cover featured his band American Authors, is the winner of the 2012 Cover the World Global Music Challenge and a 2013 Chevy Spark. Move over Cyndi, ZAC has clearly conquered your song, so kudos to him for this amazing video and congrats on the big win.
