Lucky for me, one of my favorite global hip-hop duos on the planet live right here in NYC.

Eli Efi (Brazil) and DJ Laylo (DR/Bronx) aren’t your average hip-hop group. For one, they’re married (cutest couple in hip-hop!) and have been working together musically for the past 5 years. In addition to the fact that they’re both dope DJs and/or MCs, Laylo is also a talented film maker and recently released a documentary film called Estilo Hip-Hop (trailer below).

Estilo Hip Hop is a feature length documentary that chronicles the lives of three hip hop enthusiasts from Brazil, Chile, and Cuba and is a co-production of ITVS and was an official selection of the Tribeca All Access Institute. Estilo Hip Hop will air nationally on PBS June 28th.
