Many of you may be following closely (or at least are aware of) the situation in Zimbabwe and its developments over the past few years.

You may have read about the struggles the Zimbabwean people have been going through as election after election brings no change and the economies inflation rate has become the highest ever (in the history of the world). There is constant debate over the reasons behind Zimbabwe’s current predicament. What cannot be denied is the extremely difficult life Zimbabweans living in Zimbabwe currently face. Despite these monstrous challenges, the arts in Zimbabwe have flourished. From Bulawayo to the capitol city of Harare, hip hop music in Zim has become a powerful and established movement. Emcees are rhyming in Shona, Ndebele, English, and other languages.

Outspoken hails from Harare, Zimbabwe’s capitol city. His poetry and music represent for an entire nation filled with massive potential and major dissapointment and frustration. This piece, entitled theFreedom Train, is the perfect description of where Zimbabwe stands today.
