[Update: check out our Otakon 2009 cosplay photo slideshow!]

Otakon 2009 has come and gone. The otaku, cosplayers, anime and manga fans are all back to their daily routines and lives, no longer rocking their wildly imaginative and colorful costumes (at least I would think so, but who can say…?).

It would have been impossible to see and experience everything that happened at the weekend-long event, but we definitely tried to capture a good part of the experience for those of you who couldn’t make it out to Baltimore. We’ll soon have up on site exclusive video interviews with a few of the guests, segments on some of the micro trends we spotted (dolls, steam punk, crossplay, yaoi etc) and clips from various workshops, sessions, the skit-driven Masquerade and, oh yes – we can’t forget the glowstick-heavy OtakuRave (we got ejected from that, but that’s another story!). Later today, we’ll have a slideshow of what we thought were some of the best costumes at the event so check back!

Additionally, I have to say (continuing my thoughts from my last post when I was still in Baltimore), the attendees of Otakon for the most part did not share the stereotypical socially awkward and introverted behavior associated with traditional otaku. Don’t get it twisted, I’m not complaining. Quite the opposite! Just about everyone we talked to – from vendors in the Dealer Hall to guest interviewees to most of the random cosplayers we stopped to photograph were extremely friendly and willing to take a few minutes to answer our questions. Were you there? Drop us a comment!
