Sounds Like:  Really shitty feelings wrapped in warm awesome

Once you’re able to tear your eyes away from THE BLOND! OH GOD THE BLOND! of duo Me and My Drummer, you’ll find that they’re one of the most exquisite groups to come out of Berlin.

Their sound is a dead serious best-of amalgam of indie sounds from the last few decades (along with a few hymnal influences here and there), leaving you a little lost somewhere between nostalgia and the grounding familiarity of contemporary indie-pop a la Feist and Lykke Li.

Each song is darkly psychological and angsty, with their single “You’re a Runner” leading the charge with suicide as a subject matter. Yet the result is always lush,  lovely and non-alienating. The anthemic Kate Bush vibe and composition quirks help on their album The Hawk, The Beak, The Prey, but most notably, the world should build monuments to keys player/vocalist Charlotte Brandi’s voice. If everyone on earth heard it, there would be no more war.

Watch their video for “You’re a Runner.”
