Atari Teenage Riot
After tearing apart Berlin’s neo-Nazi techno craze in ’92, ATR continued dropping anarchical digital hardcore gems for seven years before they split — compounded by the death of their vocalist, Carl Crack.
They recently released Is This Hyperreal after their 11 year-year hiatus, and their thrill-seeking composition that really stands the test of time. They haven’t lost their penchant for glitchy, nuclear, industrial warfare on your eardrums that would inspire later proteges like Mindless Self Indulgence, and arguably, Sleigh Bells. And after a decade, ATR’s production prowess is tighter than ever, which is extremely dangerous for a generation glued to indie rock.
