Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble

The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble’s acoustic electro is made by Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick from Germany. They have a 2010 debut album You Make Me Real that pulls together all of their instrumentalism; vibraphone, guitar, piano, and makes it sound like digitally produced techno. It’s intentionally spare and lo-fi. It’s negating all of the endless loops and samples that have shaped the face of music for the last 40 years and goes back to where the sounds first originated, actual instruments. Very cool! They have toured extensively and played the festival circuit and people are finally paying attention.
The down-tempo, dreamy, jazzy sound is very much like Groove Armada, though the layering is very orchestral. They really epitomize the experimental New Music genre but couch it in techno accessibility.
