Hello Seahorse!
The operatic vocals of Hello Seahorse!’s Lo Blondo thrust you into a dream…and a nightmare. Combined with Bonnz!’s pop drumming, keyboardist Oro de Neta’s ambient melodies, and multi-instrumentalist Joe’s handy guitar work, the Mexican folktronic quartet scare as much as they inspire. The group formed in 2005, garnering early success for their record Betista, which won “Best Rock Album” at the 2009 Indie-O Music Awards. The foursome followed up this acclaim with the release of their latest record Lejos. No Tan Lejos, meaning “Far. Not So Far,” in 2010 — a work that explored the darker side of the rockers’ sound. With four studio albums in total and recognition from the likes of the Latin Grammy Awards, the talented indie-poppers are “not so far” from anything at this point. Their blend of modern rock sounds, pop sensibilities, and indie aesthetics are redefining Mexican alternative music.
