Born Byiome Muir in Clarendon, Jamaica, I-Octane began his career by singing in his house — flustering his mother. He graduated high school before flying headlong into the biz, dropping hardcore dancehall tracks under the name Richie Rich. His debut album Crying to the Nation in 2012 is a blend of ladies man roots reggae and dancehall party music. He’s more or less a legend in the Caribbean, and among Jamaican populations around the world.
