Selah Sue
Inspired by Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill, this 23-year-old has had a fairy tale of a career. The Belgian singer was discovered through her modest MySpace recordings, which wound up on her first album Selah Sue in Europe. Overwhelmed by her powerful voice and acoustic guitar skills, she was invited to record with Cee-Lo Green and J. Cole, and to open for the legendary Prince.
Selah’s sound is a mixture of folk and reggae with an overwhelming measure of sincerity in each performance. Her once-DIY music earned her a deal with Columbia Records in the states, which is re-releasing her debut album for the gargantuan American market. Selah Sue is a name you’ll be hearing soon.
