Even on an acoustic version of one of their grunge rock songs, you can tell these guys really know how to turn it up a notch. The track "Knocking," from their debut <i>Overtures in OuterSpace</i>, speeds up to the point that you fear for the guitarists' fingers -- man, can they strum. Filmed late on night, just before the monsoons (so the city was baking daily) in the Delhi home of the lead-singer Dheval, the video is an intimate glimpse at a band that typically plays big, beery clubs.<br/><br/>

Mainstream music? Bollywood? "All of us are trying our best to break away from that," says Half Step Down lead singer Dheval. They grew up listening to the Stones and the Beatles and they’re not gonna play Bollywood just because it’s what the radio wants. This hard-working Delhi-based band is constantly touring and just released their debut. "Download it, Steal it," Dheval says.
