YG Entertainment’s fantastic four will be heading out on a world tour! Following in the footsteps of their sunbae group Big Bang, 2NE1 will team up with Live Nation to hit ten cities in seven countries starting this July. It’s time to head back to the bank for more ticket money because there’s no way you wanna miss both YG concerts in your area.
The girls are being touted as “the first Korean girl group to headline a world tour,” which is technically true. The Wonder Girls came close in 2009 and 2010, but only toured US and Canadian cities with the Jonas Brothers and again on their Wonder World Tour. 2NE1’s New Evolution tour will stop in ten cities across Asia, the Americas and Europe, starting with their kick-off concert at the Gymnastics Stadium, Olympic Park in Seoul on July 28.
That said, a YG representative revealed more news about the comeback we’ve been waiting a year for since their second mini-album last summer. “There were plans to release 2NE1′s new album within this month. However, because there were so many good songs… the release period has been delayed.”
To make it clear that postponing the release and its promotions was not a move to avoid competition, the representative continued, “Currently, 2NE1 is planned to return to the music world with their new album in mid-July. As the 2NE1 members are absorbed in album preparations these days, it’ll be appreciated if you take a lot of interest in [the upcoming album].” (via Nate)
On a YG related note, Big Bang’s Facebook page for their ALIVE Tour 2012 has just confirmed November 3 as the date for the LA concert.
