After a week of hardcore clicking, fans of Xenia Rubinos, the Cuban-Puerto Rican American making mathy, bizarro beats akin Micachu and the Shapes, tUne-yArDs. Apparently the world isn’t out for the easiest listening, but rather, surprise and utter badassery.

Xenia was raised in Hartford, the exciting insurance capital of the US, in a family of Puerto Rican and Cuban extraction. Eventually, she found her way to Brooklyn, where she collaborated with drummer Marco Buccelli to put out her debut album Magic Trix in 2011.

Here she is live on one of her her mellower tunes, “Cherry Tree.” Check out her recent interview!
