MTV K: B-Sides

Asian Jersey Shore — Awesome or Racism Magnet?

Asian Jersey Shore — Awesome or Racism Magnet?

For those of you sensible, thoughtful, joy-killers out there who think K-Town, the Asian-American version of MTV’s Jersey Shore, might be the worst thing to happen to Asian-Americans since the Japanese internment camps…you may be right.

Check out this clip from back in April of the American late night show Chelsea Lately. Chelsea, the blonde host, mentions the casting call, and her three guests immediately launch into EVERY SINGLE ASIAN STEREOTYPE EVER. Nunchunks, Chinese herbs, slant eyes…the guy in the middle (in the blue shirt) really gets into it around 00:38. And the “Blasian” guy next to him can’t seem to do much to stop it.

We’re excited to see the show because we think it’ll show that over-tanned, over-gelled, over-sexed people know no ethnic barriers. But this is kind of not funny.
