Bloc Party Fans Didn’t Recognize Frontman Kele Okereke In His Solo Outfit

We’ve written about Kele Okereke, the Nigerian-UK sensation who once fronted mega rock band Bloc Party, and is now going solo.

But even his biggest fans don’t seem to appreciate the solo act. NME said Kele walked around the UK Glastonbury festival unrecognized, even by fans who were totally psyched to see him live, and even by fans who were wearing Bloc Party T-shirts.

Um, either the folks at Glastonbury are completely stoned out of their gourds, or they’re posers and never actually liked Bloc Party. You can’t look more distinctive than Kele, with his bulging muscles and a sexy fro that he recently let out of cornrows (they were featured in his premiere solo video “Tenderoni”!)

I mean seriously, would you be able to miss him? At a concert? When you were paying to see him? And are we letting Glastonbury-goers drive cars when the festival’s over?

Frankly, I’m excited about his solo career. His premiere album, The Boxer, was recently released, and it’s a layered, thumpa-thumpa dance party in a box. Kele went super-electro for the larger part of the album, which is a far cry from his most of his guitar-toting Bloc Party days.

Maybe that’s why folks didn’t recognize him..his fans lack sensitivity to synth.
