One Brooklyn-based rapper clearly has a predeliction for all things British: The Incomparable Shakespeare.
Like his British namesake, the guy is a talented lyricist. And on his latest compilation, he goes back to his British roots — covering only songs from the muggy island for the upcoming British Invasion, an album produced by Silver which is, according to a release from TIS, “a hybrid experiment that fuses the musical aesthetics of American and UK pop…The project’s goal was to maintain the integrity of the source material while creating a rich new sound not typically found in Hip-Hop.”
Our favorite track that has leaked so far is a re-mix of Oasis hit “Wonderwall,” layered over with vocals that tell the story of how hip-hop saved him from a life stuck in the projects. The chorus? Naturally it’s, “Hip-hop, you’re my Wonderwall.”
