Canada’s Purity Ring Release Another Intense MV, for “Fineshrine”

Models, CGI, and Post R&B Pop

Judging from their spot-on performance at Celebrate Brooklyn! last night, the Edmonton, Canada-based Purity Ring are in fine form for the release of debut album Shrine, happening July 24th (or, if you’re at their merch stand, now). Today, marching forward with their dreamy, draggy post-r&b pop, multi-instrumentalist Corin Roddick and singer/percussionist Megan James have just released a new music video for their single, “Fineshrine.” Following up the murky underwater world of “Belispeak,” this time the video’s mise-en-scene is a normal apartment bedroom — at least at first.

A note about casting: Corin and Megan have elected model stand-ins for themselves and don’t appear in the video, which is disappointing. But maybe it was to best blend with the weird, supernatural CGI that starts happening mid-way through the song. Ah, but I’ve said enough.

Check the video up now on Vevo.

And for comparison, here’s Megan running barefoot through a forest (or is she swimming through a murky sea?) in “Belispeak”:
