Mexico-based net label Tropic-All is giving away an infernally fine batch of ruidoson. But it’s a sin to give tracks this good away for free so they’re sure to repent soon.
Hurry to download La Sombra de Satan (Satan’s Shadow) by ruidoson demon Santos while you still can. It consists of twelve evil party starters, so within seconds you’ll be dancing to this blast of jittery norteño brass, accordion samples, and brain-rattling beats like you’ve been possessed.
Okay, enough with the bad greeting card puns. This is serious. This is only the second release to come from Tropic-All (home of Iggy fave María y José) and it’s the first to feature an artist solo, so that says something about their belief in Santos’s music. Their faith has certainly been rewarded. This debut is a magnificent flower of evil! (Sorry.)
For an electronic album, it’s pretty freaking metal. This is especially true on dark, noisy cuts like “Incertidumbre.” We give it two pairs of devil horns way, way up. Just as long as there are no subliminal messages on there telling kids to kill their parents. That would be sooo ’80s.
We doubt there is any such thing going on. This is definitely dance music for the future, not the past.
