Jamaican hitmaker Vybz Kartel is officially a tabloid mag’s dream come true. It may be that lightening his skin with bleach, marketing his own brand of condoms, and starring on a reality TV show apparently weren’t quite dark enough for Adidjah Palmer. The singer and entrepreneur, who spent the weekend in a Kingston jail, is expected to be questioned today in connection with several murders.
Police reportedly discovered a badly burned body in one of his homes in St. Andrew several weeks ago. Palmer is also being investigated for a triple murder. It’s unknown whether these cases are connected.
While at a hotel on Thursday night, Vybz was arrested for possessing a small amount of marijuana. The next day, a police team escorted him to several residences in Kingston and St. Catherine, which he owns or has spent time in, and searched them, removing several boxes.
On Thursday, Palmer had spent the day shooting Teacha’s Pet, a reality TV show where twenty young women live in a Kingston mansion and compete for his attention. One of the show’s sponsors, LIME, is said to be monitoring the progress of the investigation closely. A press conference with more information is schedule for this week.
Here’s to hoping that this controversy-courting artist hasn’t crossed the line this time.
