I’m not sure if there’s a way for me to articulate the awesome that is about to happen to the globe. Do you remember 2007? I know you don’t, but play along. 2007 is when this album With Lasers dropped and introduced us to Bonde do Role (pronounced BON-jee doo ho-LAY), a bunch of Brazilian beat-obsessed pranksters, armed with baile funk and many butt references. And now they’re ba-ack.
Tropicalbacanal is out in June, and is a sophomore effort we’ve been dreaming of. How do we know? Well, let’s talk hipster beats dream team – from the indie throttle of the Death Set to the post-colonial wit of Das Racist, Bonde do Role have elected the pick of the global litter to guest. And as always, they’re repped by Diplo, who repped them even back in the day when he was just a baby global-bass-mogul.
And it’s really real, based on the new videoBonde do Role have just premiered on Pitchfork for first single “Kilo.” It stars Diplo as a cowboy, and Bonde to Role as a tropical bar band in the guise of actual tropical fruit. Sherrrrrrr, why not.
