Ghostpoet has got a sophomore album coming out on the 6th of May titled Some Say I So I Say Light, and he’s teasing it with the glitchy downer jazz number “MSI MUSMID.” For this ambling piano ramble the ethereal griot took inspiration from a dream he had where dim sum and noodles were good friends with each other but argued constantly. That’s right. The man who gave us a debut named Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam is singing about food again. The bleary vocals and soggy chords kinda make it sound like he rolled out of bed and started banging the song out while still half asleep. Odds are he OD’d on take-out right before nodding off.
With his mumbly delivery and love of murky productions like this, we get the feeling Ghostpoet writes from a liminal point of view quite often. We’re not mad though. It might be a figment of his indigestion, but the track still quite tasty.
