Grimes Hits Late Night

Let's Hope She Doesn't Pull a "Lana Del Rey"

By MTV Iggy | August 7, 2012

Canadian indie-darling Grimes will give a dose of her high-pitched, experimental pop to boob-tube watchers from all corners of the American heartland next Tuesday on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, in her television debut.

It’s yet another case in what seems to be a trend of indie artists invading Late Night. In recent history Das Racist made us feel weird on Conan, Sleigh Bells left America  scratching it’s collective head on Saturday Night Live, and Beach House got wavy on Letterman. Best Coast, the xx, and Animal Collective all performed on Late Night television this summer, signaling one of two things: either networks have let their guard down and let their super hip interns do their music programming, or a new model for indie music publicity is forming. Either way, more please!

Check out our photos from Grimes’ live concert at the Mercury Lounge earlier this year, and watch her get sporty in the video for her single “Oblivion.
