On September 5, Jaywalkerz were hit with an unexpected release: The full version of “Demon,” off the soundtrack for Jay Park‘s upcoming 3D dance flick Hype Nation, was finally released online.
Produced by Teddy Riley, the R&B pop track was originally written for the late Michael Jackson and highlights Jay’s own artistic color through its melody and choreography. Jay also penned the rap for this all-English track.
The music video stars label mate actress and former Miss Korea, Kim Sarang (Secret Garden), who plays the demon that seduces Jay, and the song’s choreography comes from the ever-talented Andrew Baterina of So Real Cru, who also did “Abandoned,” as Jay told MTV K earlier this year.
Despite the presence of a gorgeous co-star and the song’s crisp choreography, it’s hard to ignore the overall low production quality of the MV, especially since it took over a year to release the finished product.
But Jaywalkerz weren’t the only ones thrown off by the music video’s amateur feel.
A few hours following the release, Jay Park expressed his embarrassment at the MV on his Twitter, where he apologized to his fans in both Korean and English, promising to show them only the best from here on out.
“Something like this won’t happen again. Last year I was kinda…… From now on, I’ll only release ones that are done properly~ the M/V is………… oh my… (tear).”
Fans were quick to show their support, leaving him messages of comfort and encouragement and praising the actual song and choreography.
