On March 10th, a magnitude 8.9 earthquake and consequential tsunami hit Japan with devastating results. Below are some of the ways you can help as well as the messages Korean stars left for the Japanese people.

There are also many aid organizations including the American Red Cross which has set up fundraising sites. The CEO of Google has also set up a $100,000 matching fund for the relief effort through the Citizen Effect.
Girls’ Generation
Girls’ Generation released a message through their Japanese mobile site saying:
The victims have our deepest sympathy
We would like to express our deepest sympathy to the victims of the Tohoku Pacific Ocean Earthquake. We came to know about the news of the earthquake in Thailand. Regarding SNSD who has activities in Japan, this isn’t somebody else’s problem and all of the members are concerned. Even now, the aftershocks, tsunami and disasters continuously occur and there is serious damage. This current condition pains our hearts very much. We pray from our hearts that everybody will peacefully overcome this hardship.

2NE1 was set to debut in Japan on Music Station on March 11th and was in the country due to that. CL returned first on March 12th and the rest of 2NE1 arrived in Korea on a later flight.
Dara revealed in an interview that the girls had been on the 34th floor of a hotel building. Because of the height, they felt the intense tremors and Dara was even swept off her feet.

Kara
KARA was in Japan for their Japanese drama, Urakara, filming and made it safely back to Korea on the 11th.
A staff member revealed that the earthquake happened during the middle of filming and while the members were taken to a safe zone, objects were falling from the buildings outside.
Jiyoung and Hara tweeted messages with Hara saying, “I want to send out my heart..” and Jiyoung, “Everyone, we’re all safe and sound back in Korea! No worries!! To everyone in Japan, we’re already have in Korea safe and sound. Is everyone alright?! I hope nothing terrible happens anymore! Ganbatte everyone!!!!!”
Hallyu stars
Hally stars have expressed their sorrow for Japan and are currently working on ways to help.
Bae Young Joon’s agency, Key East, says they have not been able to contact their company in Japan and his co-star in Winter Sonata, Choi Ji Woo said that she will do whatever she can do to help.
Lee Byung Hun, Kwon Sang Woo, Jang Dong Gun, Won Bin, an d Ryu Shi Won all are considering what to do next and were heart-broken to hear the news.
