Alright! So our April tour just began.
We left Santa Barbara yesterday, and the universe wasted no time showing us that we’re in store for a great month!
Our first show was at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the school was able to pay enough for us to actually fly out for the show!! Our flight from Santa Barbara had two of the cutest, youngest flight attendants any of us have ever had the luxury of flying high with! Quite a difference from traveling in a van with nothing but dudes! We’ve actually got the footage to prove it. These girls were great. They also made sure Casey had their phone numbers. We’re sure that was just in case one of us left something on the plane….
Once we actually got into San Antonio, it was dark and raining but we were on a mission! We HAD to see the Alamo. We’re musicians for a reason, but from what we remember from history class (when we made it to class), the Alamo is where David Bowie and Davey Jones battled eight or nine Spanish troops for control of the first ever Taco Bell. That’s right, isn’t it?
Because of the famous incident with Ozzy Osbourne being arrested for urinating on the Alamo, Noah thought he would make his own history. He wanted to ‘one up’ Ozzy. Once we made out way downtown, we were sad to find a Texas Ranger protecting the Alamo! So, not only did we have to make the executive decision to not ‘drop bombs’ on the Alamo….but, we also had to rush Noah to the closest restaurant to use their restroom.
We found ourselves standing over the River Walk. This is one of the coolest parts of San Antonio. We didn’t get to see many… but this is one of the coolest! We had dinner as a band at a really cool restaurant on the River before finally making our way to our hotel. Luckily for us, we were staying right across the street from the UTSA campus, where we had to be at 10:30am to get ready for our performance at their Spring Fiesta kick off event.
We got to the campus on time (basically), and set up. The stage was great. We were in the middle of campus, with about 40 different clubs and groups running booths. The students at UTSA were really great. We played twice during the event, and had a great response both times. Will had the crowd chanting along to “ADD,” and had them all calling back during Move On. Afterwards, the student dance crew taught us how to “shake our money makers.” We got some really funny footage of that! Wait til you see Will. He might be in the wrong profession. We unloaded a ton of shirts and CDs, and seriously can’t wait to come back and play for the students here again really soon.
Tonight we head up to Austin to play on the UT Campus there tomorrow night! We can’t wait to be back in Austin. We’ll let you know how that goes before we head off to Nashville on Sunday! This is going to be a crazy tour, we’re all over the place… but so far, we’re having a ton of fun, and expect it to continue!
