M.I.A’s sister Kali Arulpragasam’s latest collection Murder from her jewelry line Super Fertile really takes a stab at controversy (had to do it). If you have been longing for accessories that give you that just-been-brutally-tortured glow, your prayers have finally been answered. For the Autumn / Winter 2011 collection, blood red jewels shaped like bullet wounds and gashes are worn by models who are stylized like bruised and bleeding blind-folded victims.

Viewed in the context of her other provocative collections (Mankind, Cra$h, The Real Super Stars, Hunger, Tourism, Endangered Species, Rich Girl vs. Poor Girl), the idea behind the Murder collection isn’t that weird. But even for the Spring 2009 Hunger collection the models weren’t styled as starving and emaciated. Does Murder take it one step too far and glamorize torture and violence, or is it just art?
