I came across Man Like Me when the nu-rave scene fell in love with grime in 2009. I remember like it was yesterday. One Saturday night, Dirty Canvas – a London-based grime music club night – booked the band to headline one of their raves, alongside Boy Better Know. Half of the crowd were dressed head-to-toe in day-glo gear, with dolls and other dangly objects around their necks, while the other half were straight gooned-out, hoods up – all united in gun finger-throwing. A lot of other underground music scenes could learn a thing or two from this period, actually. I digress. So, Man Like Me just dropped a fashionably cool video for their March 18-released single, “Sleaze.” And, yet again, their winning combination of indie, electro-pop and grime has produced a fun, radio-friendly number.
