After more than three breathless months, can you believe the Best New Band 2011 program is over? Months of voting, cheerleading, planning…it all came together today, 12.12.11, in Times Square, NYC.

From MTV’s historic Times Sq studios to the lavish Best Buy Theater, to the hordes of screaming fans gathered beneath the MTV HD Screen outside, to the hundreds of thousands of tweets pouring in from live stream watchers, it’s been a hell of a night.

Music from Venezuela, Malaysia, Jamaica and Korea shared a single stage in a glorious celebration of global, borderless music. The four fiercest ladies of K-pop, 2NE1, took a long walk to the stage (to the strains of “I Am the Best”!) where they showed the world why they really are the best.

When the confetti guns went off and Bom, Minzy, CL, and Dara held up (and wore) their giant golden crowns — let’s just say we heard more than a few sniffles amidst the squeals.

But you wouldn’t know about any of this if (gasp! horrors! shock!) you couldn’t watch the livestream because you were in surgery or taking an exam or something equally dire. We wanted to make sure everyone got to see the concert, so even if you missed it live…MTV Iggy will stream the whole show on demand!

This holiday season, THIS is the gift that keeps on giving. Take that Santa.
