To some he’s a buzzkill, to others he’s bitter that he wasn’t invited to sing in the Olympic Games, to others he’s washed up and looking for something controversial to talk about, and still, to others he speaks the truth.
Whatever they believe, the UK is reeling over comments made by Morrissey yesterday in a mass e-mail to his fan club in which he compared the London Olympic environment to 1939 Germany.
“I am unable to watch the Olympics due to the blustering jingoism that drenches the event…Although the spirit of 1939 Germany now pervades throughout media-brand Britain, the 2013 grotesque inevitability of Lord and Lady Beckham (with Sir Jamie Horrible close at heel) is, believe me, a fate worse than life. WAKE UP WAKE UP.”
Morrissey went on to say that London is being represented to the world by its wealthiest, while the remainder of England ““shivers beneath cutbacks.”
For those brave enough to be in London, what do you think?
