Most musicians are grateful for their fanbase, but only our favorite Mexican folksy pop singer Natalia Lafourcade is showing thanks by giving them a piece of her fame.
Not only did she ask her fans to submit remixes of her music, but she’s putting the best tracks on an album slated for release in August, and she’ll soon post all the submissions on her website! Way to advocate for the artists!
On her blog, Natalia said she’s tirelessly listening to the submissions between tour dates, and she even gave a shoutout to Colombian hip hop electro turntablist DJ Pho, saying she couldn’t stop dancing! (Neither could I when I visited DJ Pho’s MySpace). We also shouted out earlier this month to Jovenes y Sexys, who remixed Natalia’s “No Viniste.” Hopefully they’ll make it on the album!
Natalia said she already chose 3 remixes (though she hasn’t announced them) and is still sifting through the submissions. The album will be a re-packaged version of her hit Hu Hu Hu with the winning remixes as well as some of her live tracks, acoustic versions of her hits and some videos.
And she apologized profusely on her blog to those who don’t make it, saying she plans to post all of the songs on her official website.
Um, how could you not love this girl?
Although, I wish she’d get some sleep. During this whole contest she’s been touring in Japan, New York and California. She’s even nice when she’s jetlagged.
