Yikes, if new idols are debuting every week now, how can any stand out from the pack? Lucky for Dream Star Entertainment’s new group Tahiti, they managed to gain some hype from starring in their own reality show, much like A-JAX and GLAM. Released today was the music video for Tahiti’s first single, “Tonight,” which features members Ye-Eun, E.J, Minjae, Jisu, Jungbin and Dasom skipping out on a drab day at work in a mannequin warehouse for some fun in the sun.
TAHITI – “TONIGHT” MV
It’s nice to hear a debut song that isn’t the typical dance/pop/electronic mash up that are common with dance groups. Tahiti’s “Tonight” trends more towards house music with plenty of groove and smooth synth riffs, and the uniqueness of the sound does its part to makeup for the lack of stage presence. Just how hard they were concentrating on the choreography was visible on a few members’ faces, which was a little distracting during their dance sequences. Their personalities seem bubbly and charismatic on their show, Ta-Dah, It’s Tahiti! and in the candid MV shots as well, but they don’t translate in the actual performance of the song.
Hopefully the ladies can pull it together soon, because like the other 60+ debuts this year, Tahiti has their work cut out for them. Only the best groups will make it out of the 2012 rookie rush alive, and it’ll be a miracle to see any of them make it to a second or third single—B.A.P, excepting.
