Snippets from Eric Lau’s Upcoming Instrumental Album Quadrivium

British-Chinese producer Eric Lau recently built some interest for his upcoming album Quadrivium with “Star Trekking,” a space voyage of a track that preserves the original boom bap in its DNA.

The record is out this Friday, February 25th, and in case the world needed just a little more to bolster the potential of this album, Lau just released 30 second snippets of each of the 20 beats from Quadrivium on his Bandcamp page.

With crisp drums and muted jazzy melodies throughout, Lau is sounding like Pete Rock’s Petestrumentals. Thank god a good producer can make a record without feeling like he needs MCs to feature all over the place. Other than the Busta Rhymes “yo yo” sample and Q-Tips “Turn up the bass and lay low on the treble,” not a word is spoken.
