The Wooster Collective just posted this picture of a wall in China, attributing the artwork to South African street artist Faith47. With a painterly style and subtly provocative theme, it’s easily recognizable as her work.
Though she goes by an alias, she’s no secret. Her paintings on canvas and wood can be seen in galleries around the world and her murals and wheatpastes can be found in South African townships and far flung cities too.
Her work is often very political. Her recent murals commemorate South Africa’s Freedom Charter, a significant Apartheid-era document calling for an equal and just society. Watch her at work on it here:
