The GTW is Back With A “Sublime” Visual Single

By Beverly Bryan | October 5, 2011

The GTW has got a sophomore opus coming out later this year called Lean On Me, and we can’t wait.

The Nigerian-Chicagoan rapper/composer who we love to death has always had a jazzy streak in his productions (See: the videos for “Running All My Life” and “Blow Me Away”) and now seems to be exploring that more fully on “Sublime” the second single off the album. The track, which features smooth male/female vocals but no rapping, is out now as a visual single.

What, you thought it was just a video? Wrong. Welcome to the future of listening to songs.

Taken as a complete work, the visual single is interesting. “Sublime” could be about overcoming any kind of trouble through the power of love, but the clip tells a very specific — and bleak — story of unwanted pregnancy. The song is slightly more uplifting than the narrative its paired with and the small disconnect between the two leaves you with space to ponder. We wouldn’t expect anything less from this 21 year-old upstart.

Watch for updates about Lean On Me. All we can tell you now is that you will like it and it will be free. Yep.
