Wyclef Jean and Trey Songz Energize Angola

The Music Men Give Back

By Garrett Houghton | May 4, 2012

Wyclef Jean and Trey Songz played to a frenzied Angolan crowd last weekend, bringing a collective high-energy performance to throngs of adoring fans. But before the raucous show, the performers took part in relief efforts. The duo handed out school supplies to local orphanage students, and afterward, posed for pictures with the kids.

Wyclef, who is a seminal relief figure in his home country of Haiti, continues to spread music and support to countries around the world, and this concert for Angola was no different. In a country where the life expectancy is ranked amongst the lowest in the world, Angola — only a decade removed from civil war — faces a severe humanitarian crisis. With Trey Songz in support, the concert was a night of hope and celebration, and looking towards a better future.

The two performers command the stage, singing out to the waves of smiles and Angolan flags touted by many in attendance.
