It’s glittery. Fragrant World, Brooklyn future-Enya trio Yeasayer’s third album, is available for pre-order today. A lucky few will be able to purchase a bundle that includes a 7″ of an extra track, “Fragrant World.” Said 7″ is pressed with glitter, aka tiny bits of shiny plastic that in some instances might make the record not play as good. But as Yeasayer say themselves, it looks really cool and it’s art!
Luckily, the vignettes they’ve released from the album combine art and function in a holy union. “Henrietta’s” soulful synth and “Longevity’s” r&b bass harken back to the psych-Middle-Eastern-snap-gospel of their debut, All Hour Cymbals, but they’ve grown. Now it’s darker, but somehow poppier too. ‘Sgood.
Pre-order a physical copy or on iTunes and get an extra track, “Fragrant World.”
