Yoshiki To Unveil His Blood Red Dragon Comic Collaboration

X Japan leader and drummer Yoshiki has a talent for unexpected collaborations. The heavy metal superstar has his own racing team (Team Yoshiki), his own fashion line (Yoshikimono), a California wine he helped develop called Y, a Yoshiki Visa card, a jewelry line, and Yoshikitty — a Hello Kitty doll  in his image.

Now he’s teamed up with US comic creators Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane to create a comic book that will be debuted this weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con in a Q&A and panel discussion. Titled Blood Red Dragon, it stars a super hero inspired by Yoshiki who derives his powers from music.

The comic will be translated into a number of languages and made into an animated series for which Yoshiki is writing music. Some of the character design has already been revealed. And, according to Anime News Network, the comic will feature “a surprise and first-of-its-kind publishing innovation that combines the unique skills of these three world-renowned artists.” For more on what to expect, read the Los Angeles Times interview with Todd McFarlane.
