Zuzuka Poderosa, our favorite Brooklyn-based baile funk goddess, just doesn’t stop. Since our fervent Bands We Like shout out to her in November she’s totally been living up to our hype.
Her fabulously raw single “Brooklyn Ghetto Fabulosa” featuring 77/Klash is available for free on its own little Bandcamp page. And, like any good future superstar, she’s on her way to SXSW.
But right now we’re especially wound up about the remix EP she’s putting out with DJ/producer Sonora, who has worked with the likes of Isa GT. Zuzuka posted the cover art on Twitter saying the EP “shows what we do best, which is blend multiple styles of music.” That’s out March 17. Amen.
Also, watch for “Pyaar Baile” her globe rocking collaboration with DJ Rekha and Meetu Chilana coming to a dance floor near you. No word on when it comes out officially but you can hear it at Masalacism.
Zuzuka recently talked about “making interracial music babies” in an interview for PRI’s The World. Let’s just say if “Pyaar Baile” was a real baby it would be so cute that Zuzuka would get mobbed by cheek pinching auntie-types every time she went outside with it.
Can’t wait to get your hands on the remixes? We understand. Here’s the latest from her Soundcloud page to help you keep it together. It’s a gritty, oscillating demon lovechild that she made with DJ Sujinho. They’ve decided to name it “Tecnoelectrico.” Awww.
