You may know Le Butcherettes frontwoman Teri Gender Bender as the surrealist hellion in the bloody apron with murder in her eyes. We love the Mexican singer and guitar player’s maniacal stage persona, but we were thrilled to see a softer, more elegant side to the artist during this exclusive photo shoot at an abandoned bunker an hour outside of Los Angeles.
The desolate locale was fitting spot for our strange heroine but, gliding among the cacti, she seemed like someone else entirely. Well, except for when she started eating the plants. That’s the Teri we know.
(To see the singer and guitar player in her natural habitat, check out our exclusive Le Butcherettes live performanceand read the interview, “Cut It Up & Eat It: The Bloody Soul of Le Butcherettes.”)
