J-Rock superstars Puffy AmiYumi headlined the the Far East To East Showcase at Irving Plaza as part of the New York Anime Festival and New York Comic Con. They were joined by fellow Japanese rockers Echostream, Zazen Boys, and Boom Boom Satellites.
Performing with both a live drummer and electronic beats, Boom Boom Satellites’s electro-rock wowed the audience with a giant sound.
But Puffy AmiYumi’s power pop is larger than life. (It’s so big, that it got singers Ami and Yumi their own cartoon show.) An enthusiastic crowd showed them affection that was equally out-sized.
