Does This Count as a New M.I.A. Video?

Without judgment, I present the new video from the genre-straddling Sri Lanka-born indie queen. But… I just wanna say first, I’m not even sure this is an “official” video. It kind of just seems like a video M.I.A. shot of herself in a closet under a green light.

Posted to her twitter account today, the accompanying message read, in her regular all-caps style, “THERES SPACE FOR OL DAT I SEE,” is obscure to say the least. Then, the link brings us to M.I.A. dancing beneath a green strobe to a loud siren, which fades into an electro beat as she sings, “Gravity is my enemy / Stars that are bright get close to me / There’s space for all that I see.”

We’re not sure if this will make it onto her DJ Blaqstarr-produced upcoming album. Though we know there are no rules there, as it does feature a song about cable workers coming to her house and fixing her internet connection…
