Ghana Rapper M3nsa's New Video Will Make You Stop Worrying
The “No One Knows” video for the single off Ghanaian rapper M3nsa’s 2010 debut No. 1 Mango Street, is a not-that-subtle hint that we should all worry a little less.
The basic thesis to the sunny, Asa-sampling single is that there really is no way for anyone to see into to the future and that’s okay. This is illustrated in the video when the weatherman, a fortune teller, and even a fortune cookie fail to give M3nsa the heads up he’s looking for.
By the end of the video, the prescription for this aspect of the human condition seems to be going outside and playing with some kids. Makes sense. After all, kids tend to live in the moment.
You could argue that it’s easy for M3nsa to tell people to chill out. In 2009 he made the first pidgin English movie musical Coz Ov Moni with Wanlov the Kubolor (Together they are hip hop group FOKN Bois), and released it to critical acclaim. Then the rapper followed it up with the aforementioned stellar solo debut last year. It’s no problem relaxing when the future looks so bright. But he is a new dad, so maybe he’s earned the right to tell us about handling life’s big changes.
Listen to the track. It sounds like he knows what he’s talking about.
