Muse -- The Resistance

The new video from Muse kind of totally blows my mind. Earlier this week when I saw the preview, I thought it’d be a lame collage of far-off concert footage. But I now amend my hasty considerations.
The concert grows along with the song and the video has what all videos should: have a beginning, a middle, and an end. By showing the ENTIRE concert experience — including the teens waiting in line — director Wayne Isham gave the video a narrative arc.
Plus, this isn’t concert sound. The quiet plunks of the keyboard are given breathing room. And there’s something nice about pairing this particular song with a concert video — “Are we digging a hole?” sings Matthew Bellamy. Though he could be singing to a lover, you get the sense he’s singing to the audience.
