Xray Eyeballs's "Crystal" Video Is Totally Magical
Xray Eyeballs frontman O.J. San Felipe is having a magical week in the video for “Crystal.” He meets a girl (bassist Carly Rabalais) in a record store and she changes his life forever.
San Felipe pisses her off, so she casts a spell on him with a voodoo doll and it leads to a lot of hurt. Along the way, there’s a bathtub scene that’s on its way to becoming infamous and lots of black eye makeup and spit up blood. Add in the droning groove of “Crystal,” and it’s definitely the funnest video I’ve seen this year.
Sin Fang’s video for “Because of the Blood” was pretty magical, but I think that’s a different kind of magic. At least, I hope it is. But “Crystal” is still more fun. And there’s also an important moral to it: You might think basic record store etiquette is one of those “optional” things, but your fellow patrons might disagree. And some of them might be into sorcery.
There’s a version that’s even less appropriate for work than the one below, but it all ends the same way. This one’s for the kiddies:
